The COVID-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented demand on the entire healthcare system, including suppliers.  Many-well meaning individuals and companies are “hacking” medical supplies and devices to help alleviate shortages.  Many of these hacks have already proven to be incredibly powerful; but some are useless and some are downright unsafe.  In this talk we will discuss how a international consortia called CIMIT worked with FDA, IEEE, NIH, Mad*Pow and many others to quickly put in place a digital solution that helps to alleviate these supply emergencies while also ensuring that the nontraditional medical supplies are safe to use.
