This is an ode to my boobs, my body and my new quilted life.  This is a personal patient experience exploration.

My patient journey began in 2014 when I received the call from the genetic counselor informing me that my BRCA test was positive.  In response to this news I formulated a plan. For the last 5+ years I have made life decisions, including pregnancy, child birth, a hysterectomy, oophorectomy, bariatric surgery and a double mastectomy with diep flap reconstruction.

On October 29, 2019 I rented out a hotel suite to party with my boobs one last time.  On November 27, 2019 I underwent a double mastectomy and diep flap reconstruction. I am on the road to recovery.  With more surgeries looming I have a quiet voice in the back of my head…  Wondering if my decisions were the right ones.

Hear about my experience and gaps that I wished were filled.
